This type of class is near and dear to my heart after having my own daughter Simone through an unplanned C-section. Pilates is what kept me moving and at times even motivated to stay healthy and not find myself just being pregnant on the couch! The method of breathing we will focus on worked wonders at keeping me calm as I went through the entire ordeal of unplanned induction, long labor and a surgical procedure I never would have anticipated having, all in the hopes of getting her here safe and sound. As I work to get back to a feeling of "being myself" in my body again, Pilates once again is my hidden secret and I am loving every minute of getting to know my new self and making it stronger each time. All that being said... This class is designed for women that are pregnant or postpartum. We will always focus on the safety of the moves we do in class. Breathing will be the center of these activities. We make sure to actively stabilize the spine and encourage the strengthening of the supportive muscles around it. We want to move the body but only in ways that make a mom to be or someone that has just delivered, feel completely at ease that they are doing the right thing to help protect and heal their body through very controlled and precise movements. This group class or private session is available in person upon request.
